Positions Location: Lansing, MI
General Purpose of Job:
To provide additional clinical experience to nursing students throughout the academic semesters, thus increasing comfort and confidence in the clinical setting. Provides basic patient care and specific nursing procedures. Works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
* Collects data and documents under the direction and supervision of the RN.
* Reports pertinent patient data to the RN as appropriate.
* Implements plan of care as delegated by RN and appropriately documents patient response.
* Demonstrates appropriate equipment and supply use.
* Utilizes the Transformational Model of Care in providing patient care.

| Education | * High school diploma or GED * Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program with successful completion of clinical rotation in area of hire. * Basic Life Support (BLS) |

Nurse Extern is defined as a current first year Lansing Community College Nursing (LCC) Student successfully awarded and employed as a Sparrow Nurse Extern with requirement to work 12 hours per week
