What does the job involve?

Safely positions, aligns and fits together fabricated parts, plates, piping and weldments and then welds product using a variety of processes and procedures.

What will my responsibilities include?

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A Sub Arc Operator is responsible for setting up and operating 'arc' welding machines that weld together parts of fabricated metal products. Their typical duties and responsibilities include:

1. 1. Setting up the arc welding machine, this includes aligning and adjusting the machine
   2. Using the machine to weld materials together, as specified by blueprints, layouts, welding procedures, and operating charts
   3. Selecting the correct voltage and power of the machine
   4. Visually examining welds for adherence to specifications
   5. Adjusting machine set up according to vary size, location and penetration of bead
   6. Re-welding defective joints, using hand-welding equipment
   7. Preheating surfaces, using hand torch or heating furnaces
   8. Ensure that all safety standards are maintained.
   9. Performs other duties and assignments as directed by Management.

What key skills and experience do I need?

1. Must have good organizational and communication skills and ability to work well with external and internal customers, must be able to read and write in English.
2. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals with ability to compute rate and read a tape measure well.
3. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
4. Must be able to pass a pulmonary function exam and respirator breathing/fit test.
5. Previous fork lift certification/license desired but not required.

What qualifications should I have?

1. A minimum of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School Diploma and on the job training. Associates Degree from an accredited welding technology program preferred.
