Salary Range: $69,584 - $76,584 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Anticipated semester of hire is Fall 2024

Hours: Full-time, exempt.

Essential Functions









Job Duties

The successful applicant must have the ability to teach a variety of advanced undergraduate or graduate Architecture Design Studios including:
  1. Building Systems Studio and Advanced Technical Studio as well as Professional Practice and other Architecture courses that fulfill our curriculum goals and learning objectives.
  2. Develop and maintain curriculum for face-to-face or on-line teaching.
  3. Participate in services to support the mission of the graduate and undergraduate Architecture program, the School of Architecture + Planning, the Klesse College of Engineering + Integrated Design, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and the community, including serving as the NCARB Architecture Licensing Advisor.
  4. Working with students for recruiting, advising, career fairs, and supporting the student organization and transition into the profession is important.


Required Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in Architecture, environmental design, or equivalent (M.ARCH) from an accredited institution.
  • AIA/ Registered Architect. Five or more years of relevant professional experience. Experience should be full-time and in a professional, or managerial / supervisory capacity in the Architecture field.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a desire to engage in excellent teaching with evidence demonstrated ability or potential to deliver high-quality instruction in lecture and studio courses.
  • Documented ability to learn and adapt to new teaching content areas and software.
  • Recognized knowledge of the key concepts and applications in Architecture, such as design theory, building systems, construction techniques, human-centered design, drafting/CAD/Revit, rendering skills, sustainability/LEED, codes, environmental systems, and other design-related software/VR.






Preferred Qualifications
  • A record of successful teaching in higher education, as demonstrated by teaching evaluations, reappointment, or other means.
  • Experience within Historic Preservation field preferred.
  • Submission of portfolio preferred.
