WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Management Trainee is a full-time, entry-level position in the management career path. The trainee will be responsible for learning total store operations, with the ultimate goal of moving up the ladder into a manager position. Within the first 6-12 months, you can be promoted (based on performance and position availability), which can lead to up to a 40% increase in annual pay. Trainees are typically promoted to General Managers within three to four years. Manager Trainees must complete learning plan and course of study as outlined within the assigned time frame and must be willing to relocate for management position.

No previous experience is required. 84 Lumber provides comprehensive training and tools to teach you everything you need to know including:

  • Sales in a retail environment
  • Freight handling and forklift training, certification, and operation
  • Creating material estimates from blueprints
  • Maintaining and merchandising store inventory

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES:

No experience is necessary to begin your career at 84 Lumber. We will provide you with training to learn the systems you need to be successful including:

  • Payroll, Invoicing, Inventory and POS Systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite (previous experience preferred)
  • Interpreting and analyzing common financial reports
  • Reading blueprints and creating material lists
  • Responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position can involve working outdoors or being exposed to wet, humid, hot or cold conditions. May require working in a highly precarious place and near moving mechanical parts. There may be a risk of electrical shock. The position may be exposed to vibrations, airborne particles or chemicals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position involves frequently standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, talking, listening and writing. Periodically lifts up to 80 pounds and stoops, crouches, climbs, crawls, and balances.

POSITION TYPE AND HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Hours of work depends on hours of operations. Must be willing to work 48+ hours per week, with overtime pay included.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
