Job Description
Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE: Performs all therapist duties, but has specialized skills in effective therapy for trauma survivors focused on helping the survivor maintain safety, manage symptoms, and work through the traumatic experience(s). Proficiency in Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and/or Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is required for this position. Treatment goals for trauma therapy include: examine the role of the traumatic experience in the context of the person's life, currently and historically, make meaning of the experience, learn skills to manage symptoms and to develop alternative ways of coping, and build or rebuild the ability to trust within a relationship in order to view the world as an increasingly tolerable place to function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs Psychosocial Assessment, Clinical Formulation, and Substance Use Disorder Assessment (when indicated) according to established timeframes and requirements.
  2. Develops patient's treatment plan with the patient and family, and performs weekly reviews with the treatment team, to include the patient and family.
  3. Provides individual, family and group therapy utilizing evidence-based interventions recommended by Department of Defense guidelines for the treatment of PTSD and other trauma-related disorders.
  4. Collaborates with referral point-of-contact at least weekly to ensure transition-in-care coordination and post-discharge planning occurs according to established expectations
  5. Ensure clinical documentation supports the services provided and is timely and professional and meets all regulatory, accreditory and hospital requirements.
  6. Communicates relevant information to treatment team, patient, family, Military POC's, and others involved in patient's care during and after discharge.
  7. Works collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide quality patient care.
  8. Reinforces appropriate behavior within the milieu.
  9. Obtains and utilizes supervision and guidance as needed to ensure effectiveness of treatment for

Patients.

  1. Demonstrate adherence to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.
  2. Participates in continuing professional development.
  3. Demonstrates the ability to identify risk factors for suicide.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Excellent written and verbal skills, strong assessment and interpersonal skills. Competency in individual, family and group psychotherapy. Familiarity with TDH standards and commitment process.

EDUCATION: Master's Degree.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: LMSW, LCSW, LPCi, LPC-S, LMFT

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years post licensure experience working with behavioral health population. Minimum of 1 year providing PE, EMDR, and/or CPT to trauma patients. Experience with Military population preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Ability to speak and write.

* Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential tasks.

* Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions.

* Ability to perform CPR.

* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
