Description


The Accounting Specialist II will work on an individual and team basis within the Accounting department. He or she is responsible for timely and accurate reporting of financial information, including the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. To be successful in this position, the individual must be able to effectively manage his/her time, display an extremely high level of organizational skills and display honesty and integrity when producing, delivering and distributing information. In addition, a high level of confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, review, and validate invoices and payment requests.
  • Ensure appropriate approvals are completed prior to generating a payment.
  • Flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or amounts.
  • Enter and upload invoices into accounting system.
  • Ensure proper supporting documentation is attached to records.
  • Determine cash requirement for periodic payment runs-IE: Rents, etc.
  • Prepare and execute routine payment runs.
  • Monitor accounts and ensure payments are current.
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
  • Maintain accurate vendor files and digital records.
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
  • Year end 1099 reporting and audit assistance.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter who can handle a large volume of complex daily activities in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision. Assist with financials and accounting tasks, including the management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and other monthly reports. Post financial transactions to accounting systems.
  • Maintain fixed asset and prepaid/other asset records and systems.
  • Understanding of monthly accruals.
  • Assist with monthly closings and special projects as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand organization priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Must have knowledge of basic accounting practices and be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance strongly desired.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in accounting or finance.
  • Experience with Vertafore AMS360 strongly desired (not a requirement)
  • Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications with exceptional skills in Excel.
