Position: Mortage Loan Originator | Division: Res Mortgage Lending

Work Days: Monday - Friday| Hours of Operation: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Purpose of the Position:

Provide mortgage loan origination services to the Bank's customers and prospective customers. Generate mortgage loans through branch and external marketing activities. Build loyalty and increase customer profitability by providing exceptional service and subject matter expertise.


Key Accountabilities:

Generate new mortgage loan opportunities by:

  • Actively promoting mortgage loan programs within the bank branch network;

  • Participating in local real estate related organizations and developing Centers of Influence within the community; and developing and executing a targeted marketing effort to increase customer penetration.

  • Initiate, analyze and recommend mortgage loans for approval through available loan programs by:

    • Interviewing applicants to develop financial and credit information;

    • Analyzing and evaluating customer needs and recommending appropriate financing;

    • Completing the loan application with necessary information and documentation; and,

    • Researching and recommending appropriate programs and terms and insuring the availability of the terms by completing applicable lock procedures.

  • Insure compliance with mortgage loan origination regulations and guidelines including Reg B, Reg C, Reg X, Reg Z, Privacy and CIP regulations.

  • Establish relationships with customers and is the primary contact during the mortgage process. Maximize customer value through appropriate referrals to other bank partners.

  • Participate actively in the bank's marketing program, community involvement projects and real estate financing organizations.

  • Participate in promotional events as a creator, presenter or marketer to promote bank mortgage loan products.

  • Register and maintain registry as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry and in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the S.A.F.E. Act).

  • Meet and maintain financial responsibility, character and general fitness standards along with all other established requirements for an individual Loan Originator (LO) in accordance with Regulation Z.

  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 3 years residential lending and/or real estate, title company, legal experience required

  • Prior Business Development experience preferred

  • Familiar with mortgage regulatory compliance

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Mathematical aptitude, Type 30 wpm, 10 key Calculator

  • Experience with mortgage loan origination software such as Calyx Point

  • Computer proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software

  • Experience with automated underwriting services such as FNMA Desktop Underwriter a plus

  • Bilingual - English and Spanish, with written, verbal, and interpersonal skills in Spanish is a plus

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Undergraduate degree preferred

Other Qualifications:
