Essential Functions

Summary

Function: Assist Head coach to provide management of the men's basketball program.

Scope: Responsible for recruiting prospective student-athletes, on-court coaching, serves as community relations liaison for the men's basketball program to public, and monitor academic progress of student-athletes.

Duties
  1. Be knowledgeable of and adhere to NCAA and conference rules.
  2. Recruit quality student athletes.
  3. Monitor satisfactory academic progress of student athlete and help arrange for necessary academic counseling through Athletics Academic Coordinator.
  4. Assist Head Coach with on the floor coaching.
  5. Assist Head Coach with recruitment of student athletes.
  6. Assist Head Coach with basketball training of student athletes.
  7. Assist Head Coach with scheduling of opponents.
  8. Work with the Athletics Administration in matters of public relations and promotions.
  9. Be active in fundraising for the Athletics Department.
  10. Support student-athlete development programs and assure student-athlete welfare of team by being respectful.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.







Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Three years of experience as a basketball student-athlete or coach.
  • Specific knowledge in the sport of men's basketball and knowledge and compliance with all NCAA, State of Texas, UTSA and The American Athletic Conference rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and flexibility.
  • Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office, standard office machines; and all equipment associated with the sport of Basketball.

Working Conditions
  • Physical activity in the sport of men's basketball, weekend and evening hours and required travel.



This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
