Senior Systems Administrator (VMC-San Antonio Support)

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen, lawful resident alien, citizen of American Samoa or other territory owning permanent allegiance to the United States

One (1) FTE to support the Virtual Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. This position is an IAT Level II position, as defined in DoD 8570.01-M and its replacement DoDD 8140.01

Qualifications

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must meet DoD 8570.01-M and DoDD 8140.01 IAT Level II certification requirements within 6-months of performance start.
  • CompTIA A+ is required
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience with DoD information processing standards, policies, and authorized system design approaches to manage large-scale projects.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of information technology, systems design and development concepts, and related policies and procedures to provide advice and consultation.
  • Must possess proficiency in the IT systems analysis and design to serve as a technical authority on a wide range of technology applications. Must also have knowledge of emerging technology to apply new solutions to system requirements and to plan advanced system projects.
  • Effective writing and speaking skills must be sufficient to be persuasive in advocating technical solutions for improvements to new systems or implementation of new technologies.
  • Must have CompTIA Security+ certification prior to start of performance.

Specific Duties/Tasks:

  • Perform duties as a System Administrator; attend local are meetings and represent the DHA VMC Front Office (FO) IT Team.
  • Monitor, create, and resolve trouble / incident tickets (Remedy) on behalf of the VMC, San Antonio. Trouble tickets shall be resolved or escalated within three hours of assignment in the Remedy System.
  • Coordinate responses to requests for VH related network issues for up to 300+ DHA Enterprise Sites
  • Provide guidance for the VMC FO IT staff regarding network and system best business practices
  • Provide Tier II technical support to Virtual Health (VH) Cart Program; perform testing and sustainment activities, end-user technical training and testing to support Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF) where carts are deployed within the DHA Enterprise.
  • Track "workflows" for the VMED IT Department; ensure approved workflows are utilized and adhered to by local and remote network technicians.
  • Maintain VH application servers to increase availability, address required security upgrades and repair identified issues.
  • Perform Tier II network administration tasks in support of VMC operations.
  • Create accounts for Composite Health Care System (CHCS)/Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA)/ESSENTRIS platforms for VMC clinical staff; resolve account issues for users.
  • Perform duties as a Site Access List Manager (SAL) to deliver documentation to the DHA CHCS PMO for a centralize access web portal for remote user site access.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and test computer workstations, monitors, cameras, printers, peripherals, teleconferencing equipment in Microsoft Environments.
  • Install and configure computer (WIN10) workstations, monitors, cameras, printers, peripherals and related cabling.
  • Respond to scans of network devices and systems to ensure compliance; makes approved changes when issues are identified.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement activities and make recommended changes to SOPs or Knowledge Base
  • Recommend hardware/software replacements and upgrades to meet current and future requirements
