Location: San Antonio (Onsite 3 days a week, Remote 2 days a week.

Duration: 2-3 months with potential for conversion to full-time employment

About the Company: Vaco's client recently implemented Workday's Payroll & HCM system, with a go-live date around Jan 1. The organization is seeking a Workday Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. Due to limited internal knowledge of Workday, the organization is looking for an experienced professional to lead their payroll team.

Job Description: As the Workday SME - Payroll Lead, you will be responsible for providing expertise in Workday Payroll and HCM (HR). You will work closely with the payroll team, consisting of 8 junior-level associates, 1 supervisor, and the Director, to optimize Workday configurations and processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Configure and troubleshoot Workday Payroll, including adding deductions, earning codes, and other setup-related configurations.
  • Collaborate with the payroll supervisor to review payroll prepared by the payroll staff.
  • Develop strong documentation and training materials for the payroll department.
  • Assist in training junior associates on Workday functionality and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) proficiently in daily tasks.

Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Workday Payroll SME with significant configuration and troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks quickly and accurately.
  • Experience in documentation and training for payroll processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Workday Payroll (HR experience is a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • ADP experience is helpful but not required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ADP (helpful but not required).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a focus on organizational growth and change.
