Craftsman - Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping Specialist

The general duties for this GIS Specialist are to support the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) Real Property Division in San Antonio, Texas on land acquisitions and mapping. They create accurate and visually appealing maps that convey complex information effectively. They collaborate with teams from different industries, apply geospatial analysis techniques, manage geodatabases, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide data-driven insights for informed decision-making. Overall, GIS Mapping Specialists play a crucial role in leveraging spatial data to optimize resource allocation and improve efficiency in various sectors.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Craftsman - Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping Specialist: $100K to $115K

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Craftsman - Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping Specialist Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide real estate parcel identification, property/landowner identification.
  • Interpret and organize real estate tract data.
  • Create maps and convey information in regard to linear segment construction projects.
  • Organize and display acquisition completion status and pending actions.
  • Ensure accuracy of GIS Database.
  • Coordinates with Partner Agencies to ensure consistent data is shared by all stakeholders.
  • Familiar with inputting data and producing reports from NexGen IT.
  • Providing input and suggestions to senior management and executives.
  • Working directly with AFCEC/AFIMSC leadership and staff, installations, MAJCOMs, HQ AF, USACE, NAVFAC and other internal and external organizations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Craftsman - Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • GIS Specialist, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in GIS Data Management
  • Demonstrated experience with ESRI ARC GIS Software is required
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Experience analyzing and reporting performance and financial metrics for AF construction programs.
  • Expertise in NexGen IT/ ESRI ARC GIS systems.
  • Ability to extract and organize GIS Mapping software to facilitate planning and execution of a large-scale land acquisition for a multi-state construction project. Must be able to identify and convey ownership data and present information in a concise manner.
  • Must be able to organize known parcel ownership data and support large scale land acquisition activities.
  • Must be able to create GIS Map products that convey acquisition requirements and status updates throughout the construction project.
  • Must have skill in evaluating GIS Information to identify discrepancies and work with public and private partners to ensure up to date GIS Imagery is available for project management.
  • Must have experience working as a GIS Analyst in large linear construction projects and understand the complexities of construction projects.
  • Skill in analyzing and interpreting a wide variety of issues and recommending practical solutions to problems.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Must also have experience using standard business computer software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Project.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
  • Must be able to pass a National Agency Check Investigations (NACI)/SF85 background check and drug screen
