Position Summary

***Contingent upon contract award***

Odyssey is looking for a Offsite-Medical Microbiology Technologist to support the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) Multi-drug resistant organism Repository and Surveillance Network (MRSN) by providing in real-time surveillance of Multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria and outbreak investigation assistance across the entire Military Healthcare System (MHS).

Responsibilities

***Contingent upon contract award***

Duties include, but not limited to:

    Ability to collect MDROs and submit for the phenotypic and genotypic characterization.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in performing clinical microbiology including identification and antibiotic susceptibility tests.
  • Basic knowledge of NGS technologies, including long and short-read sequencing platforms.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in DNA extraction and DNA sequencing library preparations.
Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Secret (able to obtain)

Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science or in a related science (e.g., laboratory science such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology, microbiology, immunology etc.)

Years' experience: 5 years of experience

Accreditation: MT/ CLS/MLT certification by the ASCP, NCA, or AMT
