Overview

**THIS IS A HYBRID POSITION**

The CLINICAL INFORMATICS TRAINER is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational programming and services required to provide support for the medical end-users (advanced practice nurses, medical students, residents, medical staff) during the orientation to, implementation of, and maintenance of the electronic documentation and order entry. Development of multi-faceted educational approaches to meet varied learning needs and styles. A focus on customer service is critical to the success of this position.

Responsibilities
    Develop and implement classroom, one-to-one, and just in time (JIT) training of attending physicians, physician trainees, and advanced practice providers on clinical applications of the Epic electronic health record.
  • Assess, plan, develop and implement programs and resources for practitioners to achieve the skills/competencies to meet patient safety, data management, compliance, HIPAA, NCH policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop instructional materials, tools, and activities to reinforce and enhance learning. Communicate and present system changes and new functionality.
  • Provide support, facilitate problem solving and conflict resolution related to practitioner usage of the electronic health record.
  • Recommend changes and determine outcomes to improve the quality of education and patient safety. Present findings at professional meetings.
  • Collaborate with education and training partners, informatics teams, Epic analysts, and end users to coordinate enhancements, resolve problems and improve quality.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and initiatives, quality improvement activities, and committees as assigned.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in an education or healthcare-related field. Previous training experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in information management skills and Microsoft Office/365 applications required. Previous EMR software experience and/or educational technology tools (eLearning, video) is desirable. Epic certification is required within 18 months of hire.
  • Teaching skills in classroom and clinical area. Ability to adapt teaching methods for various types of learners and subject areas being presented. Group facilitation skills.
  • Adept interpersonal skills and ability to relate effectively with medical staff, patient care services staff and a variety of hospital departmental personnel and practitioners.
  • Leadership ability as demonstrated through high level of initiative, clinical decision-making and organizational skills.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to see, hear, speak, read and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation, and care for oneself with little or no difficulty.
  • Light lifting of PC and computer equipment is required.
