Job Description
Responsibilities

REPORTS TO: Director of Health Information Management

POSITION PURPOSE: To code all discharged records according to Coding Guidelines in insure proper reimbursement.

  1. Accurately assign codes discharged records
  2. Perform timely completing of coding
  3. Enter all codes into the computer
  4. Attend all corporate coding educational session
  5. Maintain AHIMA accreditation

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Must be able to make good judgments. Must be able to react calmly and efficiently in difficult situations and possess good people skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of patient information.

EDUCATION: High school graduate or GED.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: RHIT Certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Two years experience in a Health Information Department, ICD-9CM coding experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.

* Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of patient files.

* Occasional bending, stooping and kneeling required.

* Must have hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential activities.

* Must be able to work under stressful situations.
